Shame, whores and other performances

In these series of works I am developing and addressing, through photographs, text and installation a mixture of concerns that include the nature of the sexualized individual.
Some of this work addresses personal narrative - how I interact with the subjects and the meanings of the photographs in different contexts and how I situate myself as a female artist within the notion of the prostitute. In my text based series I play with the workings of public classification and representation, particularly as the photographs were for internet advertising.
I make forays into archives of pictures, create my own archives, retrieve and represent materials from these and related sources. I use personal narratives, trying to reveal themes and subtexts via the complex interaction between them.
I offer my audience a self consciously qualified access to a range of images that were not intended for detatched and dispassionate viewing.
The process of photographing women for sale on the internet becomes a performative foray, meeting characters becoming characters - a kind of derive, utilizing the camera and diaristic strategies. This also has a repercussion towards myself. I question where I situate myself in all this.
